Years with an HN recommendation, 2007–2026

HN commenters share it during DOGE and government-cuts threads as a summary of the billionaires' aims, though many only cite it as a reference.

A political commentary video arguing that tech billionaires such as Thiel, Musk and Andreessen, along with figures like Yarvin, are using the new administration to push their agenda. It connects Yarvin's ideas with Project 2025.

“This video breaks down who those people are as well as what their motivations are” (HN, 2025)

Please, please everyone watch the incredibly disturbing video I link below. The video was created on Nov 14, right after the election. It is about the plans of 6 billionaires (Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, Marc Andressen, Ben Horotwitz, Brian Armstrong, and David Sacks) who refer to themselves as Dark Gothic MAGA. The video regurgitates the words of these 6 men. Don't take anyone's word for it. Listen to their own words about their plans. Here is what billionaire Marc Cuban says in the video: >“… what’s happening in Silicon Valley is insane. It’s not so much a support thing. It’s more like a takeover thing. Trying to put themselves in a position to have as much control as possible. They want Trump to be the CEO of the United States of America and they want to be the Board of Directors that makes him listen to them.” Link: [this video]

Musk et al.'s plan has been out in the open for a while. Lots of interviews and opinions from them the last few years, so I wouldn't even consider it an open secret. This video is probably the most succinct summary of it I've seen: [this video] It was made two months ago and has been right on the nose so far in terms of the phases in their process.

This will sound like a conspiracy theory, but this is the playbook of Curtis Yarvin, specifically the "RAGE" step - Retire All Government Employees. Some references: Watch the whole video (posted months ago predicting all these actions), but here is the relevant section: [this video] NYT interview: [link] Gil Duran did a lot of the reporting on this. I'm convinced that these people and in particular Jarvin read Snow Crash and want to make it reality. Video with similar content, shows them actually talking about their ideas and plans: [this video]

I love articles that give me a magic sentence right at the front that tells me I don't need to read any more I wish this were a laughing matter, but it's not. These people appear to be quite serious and quite capable. There's a coalition in play that includes the Project 2025 authors among others, operating at a scope that a lot of people don't fully appreciate. If this coalition holds together, they may be able to execute what many would consider a rather frightening agenda. Despite its cheesy title, this video ( [this video] ) offers an interesting perspective on Balaji Srinivasan and his place in a larger web of influence alongside people like Yarvin, Musk, and Vance. It's eye-opening. She released it back in November and promptly took a lot of flack from people calling her alarmist and conspiracy-prone, and now it's basically playing out in real time.

I would like to see some discussion on the Dark Gothic Maga video (How Tech Billionaires Plan to Destroy America) [this video] On one hand it comes across like a conspiracy video, but on the other hand she plays direct video clips of major tech figures talking about dismantling the government and dividing the world into small nation states. Trump and Musk have also both stated they want to eliminate large amounts of the federal government. I would love to get some perspective from those who have personally interacted with those people over the last 10 years. This video probably falls under what you consider "activating", but it seems like we need to have conversations around this type of issue rather than letting rational voices get drowned out by the sea of angry shouting.

Yep, here's a pretty good summary: [this video] Indeed I believe that the current administration's end-goal is the collapse of the US as we know it. Thiel and other billionaires need the collapse to create their own cyberpunk states inside current US territory. The remaining territory will be probably taken by Project 2025 guys, who want to rule it as a Christian theocracy / far-right utopia.

I watched a video recently that briefly mentions Palantir, though only in passing. I only recall this because the video had some incredibly alarming tidbits about billionaires stating their goals of "corporation states" unironically [this video]

The tech oligarchs want to dismantle democracy, receive a gift of 0.5% of Federal land from Trump and establish their own democracy-free fiefdoms. [1] The social support system in the US is being dismantled and when people can no longer afford to eat, the ensuing riots will provide the necessary trigger to declare martial law and suspend democracy completely. This tacit endorsement by YCombinator of the likes of Elon Musk and Sam Altman must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. Like Sam Altman's abrupt Face-Heel turn from staunch and eloquent Trump critic into gushing bootlicker [0], it is a shocking wakeup call that Silicon Valley monied interests either lack principles entirely, or else adhere to principles fundamentally at odds with liberal democracy [1]. I found myself hesitating to post this, here on news.ycombinator.com. This forum has always discouraged "politics". But in the final analysis, you cannot separate politics from everything else. The suffering and death that Donald Trump and Elon Musk are currently in the process of expediting[2] is no less real for being "political". And if criticizing YCombinator for endorsing - or at least turning a blind eye to - this death and suffering, is considered "off topic", then this will be my last comment on this platform. A slew of people including Musk, Vance, Curtis Yarvin, Peter Thiel, Marc Andreessen and a few other VC billionares are trying to break up the US into nation states that they call network-states. Think of Cyberpunk with a heavy dose of Snow Crash. It's a completely authoritarian agenda. While I understand this sounds like conspiracy, Andreessen quite literally has a book called "The Network State" and Yarvin has blogged about this extensively. [this video] [link] [link] [link]

It's all part of the plan, which is referred to as the butterfly revolution, by Curtis Yarvin. Leaders that have literally invested in this platform are buying into this nonsense. Peter Theil, JD Vance, Marc Andreesen, Garry Tan, Srinivasan, and many others, wanting to overthrow democracy and dissolve nation states. This effort is to establish Network States with those that worship them, sycophants and cults. They want to transform the US into an Autocracy. The polarization of the media and political parties is on purpose. They want America to fall. It's not a secret, not a conspiracy theory. It's definitely being rolled out by billionaires. It would be wise for others here to really do your research and understand why we are being polarized to hate each other. Enter butterfly revolution: 1. Reboot (“full-power start”) Suspend or bypass existing constitutional limits; concentrate absolute sovereignty in one new organization—analogous to Allied occupation powers in post-1945 Japan/Germany. Eliminate checks and balances that block rapid change. 2. CEO-Monarch model A single executive (chosen like a corporate CEO) rules; the former president becomes a figurehead “chairman of the board.” Treat the state as a firm run for efficiency, not democratic representation. 3. RAGE strategy “Retire All Government Employees” by mass-firing the civil service and replacing it with loyal appointees. Remove institutional resistance (“the Cathedral”) and ensure obedience. 4. Again, it's all part of the plan, which is referred to as the butterfly revolution, by Curtis Yarvin. Leaders that have literally invested in this platform are buying into this nonsense. These guys have polarized the two parties to a point all weaknesses are surfacing. It isn't about democrats vs republicans. It's just working class vs the billionaires. You know the ppl sitting behind Trump at his inauguration. Literally, they want to break apart the US and discredit the constitution. Unless we come together and carve a new narrative that works. These guys may succeed and you can kiss your life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness goodbye, as well bill of rights. Power revels in hypocrisy: Rules protect the in-group but do not bind them, and bind the out-group but do not protect them. It's not just logical, it's affective: There is a real pleasure in domination, and a real fear in any loss of control. It feels good to be strong, to be in control, to be protected but not bound. Domination is hegemony, hegemony is safety. These billionaires genuinely feel themselves to be oppressed if their power is threatened in any way. [1] --- [1] [this video]
