Used as a source in threads complaining about Dell, particularly aggressive upselling of warranty packages.
Linus Tech Tips benchmarks the prebuilt PCs from its second Secret Shopper series, shares final thoughts on each integrator and picks a winner. Dell ranked last.
I'd recommend against Dell. A better option would be to purchase a gaming rig and install a flavour of linux on it. There's a video series from LinusMediaGroup that investigated different OEMs, Dell ended up overcharging/scamming them for services they didn't ask for and gave worse performance [1]. Linus (Tech Tips) had an employee buy computers on the phone, and the Dell sales put on several extra warranty packages despite the "mystery shoppper" saying she didn't want them: [this video]
See also Linus Tech Tips recent Secret Shopper Special were Dell came in dead last and even scammed them with unwanted warranty extentions etc: [this video]
Did you get extra warranty? [this video] TL;DW: they did a secret shopper laptop buying experience, the sales rep pushed the extra warranty hard, and included it (at cost) despite the buyer declining it.
Anyone else see the Linus Tech Tips secret shopper video covering Dell? They repeatedly try to sell a warranty which they’re told isn’t wanted. Then they tack it on anyway. [this video]
For a not so glowy opinion of Dell: [this video] TL; DW: LTT bought computers on the phone secret-shopper style and Dell was forcing them the extended/on-site warranty, despite the shopper saying no many times the Dell rep still put these things in the order and charged them for it.
