HN commenters recommend it as a well-made, interesting and sad documentary on Bacon's troubled life.
A BBC documentary on Francis Bacon, the loud, hard-drinking British painter, drawing on people who knew him. It explores the haunted man behind the Roaring Boy persona.
“Pretty interesting and sad at the same time. It's worth a watch, IMO.” (HN, 2021)
The art style of Francis Bacon is fantastic, but the troubled life he led is maybe even more intriguing, mysterious and dark. For those curious, here's a very well done documentary on Francis by BBC - [this video] (warning, graphic themes)
Well-made BBC documentary on Bacon's troubled life
Huh, Fancis Bacon's Three Studies of Lucian Freud is the most expensive on the list at $89 million. I can't comprehend these dollar numbers, but it's a stunning painting. There is a good doco about Bacon's life on YT: [this video]
I had this morbid curiosity about Bacon's work and life a long while ago and I happened to find a YouTube documentary[0] about him. Pretty interesting and sad at the same time. It's worth a watch, IMO. [0] - [this video]
