Recommended as the early introduction to Flutter's single-codebase iOS and Android approach.
Keynote from the 2016 Dart Developer Summit introducing Flutter, Google's toolkit for building mobile apps from one codebase. It shows early demos aimed at native look and feel.
“I'm looking into Flutter/Dart from Google for building iOS/Android apps from the same codebase.” (HN, 2017)
From what I've heard React Native doesn't yet handle lists containing many views without rendering the entire list. I'm looking into Flutter/Dart from Google for building iOS/Android apps from the same codebase. The SDK is still alpha so there are still rough edges, but I've created a POC app and have been able to run it on both platforms. I'm very pleased with the results so far. [link] [this video]
Flutter keynote for building iOS and Android apps from one codebase
There is no framework to make apps look iOSish on iOS and Androidish on Android. Back to native programming, I guess. Google's Flutter certainly creates apps (using mostly web technologies) that have the correct look and feel for Android and iOS from the same codebase. Flutter keynote on native look and feel across platforms
Flutter has the builtin ability to mimic platform conventions (Android on Android, iOS on iOS), which includes scrolling, animations, fonts, etc. If you have an Android phone you can download Flutter Gallery app from Play Store, go to the menu and flip behavior from Android to iOS. Suddenly you have an app that behaves like an iOS app. Here is a demo like that from the early days: [this video]
