HN points people to it as the original explanation of what Gridfinity is and why it exists, in threads about the project and its catalogs.
Zack Freedman introduces Gridfinity, his free, open-source modular workshop storage system of 3D-printable bins and baseplates. The video walks through the design, the parametric templates and the many module types that fit parts, tools and accessories.
“Watching Zack's original video on the concept really helps to cement why this exists.” (HN, 2022)
Cool! I was hoping someone would make a better catalog for these. Searching thangs for specific things got really murky. I made a ton of the 2 grid 3 bay windowed bins to hold M3 and M4 screws and nuts and small but numerous lego pieces. Watching Zack's original video on the concept really helps to cement why this exists. [this video]
For the unfamiliar, gridfinity is a project kicked off by Zack Freedman, who makes awesome YouTube videos with his life partner: [this video] (Yes, that is a monocular HUD on his face, it's his teleprompter. There are a bunch of videos on the channel chronicling the various iterations of it)
For an introduction to the project see this video from the original creator Zach Freedman: [this video] (Short version its an open and free expandable 3D printable modular storage system with modules to fit everything from screws to soldering irons and SD cards)
Introduction to the Gridfinity project by its creator
I about had a stroke when I got to 11m54s in [this video] ; I think this is the correct transcription of that sentence: > I did a whole episode on how more printers' printers print prints for printers' printers than printers print prints for printed projects
