Captain Disillusion's comedic talk at the 2018 Blender Conference recounts how he uses Blender as a production tool for his VFX-debunking web series. It is part case study and part love letter to the Blender community.
“this is a must watch for inspiration and laughs” (HN, 2022)
Some would say this amazing diss by Captain Disillusion at BlenderCon had something to do with the major interface changes in Blender 2.8. The entire presentation is hilarious but for the interface related bit I've linked to 21m15s here: [this video]
Hilarious talk that critiqued Blender's interface.
I can’t give you a good tutorial but this is a must watch for inspiration and laughs: “Captain Disillusion: World’s Greatest Blenderer - Live at the Blender Conference 2018” [this video] Note for after: The UI has apparently been fixed
For those not aware Captain Disillusion is an impressively well produced youtube series mimicking the vibe of 90's kids TV, but for an adult audience. The Captain uses Blender for the 3D effects in his videos, and did a great presentation at the Blender conference last year [0]. The type of effect used to create these candy words is covered in the "Marble Sorting Machine" video [link] [0] [this video]
Captain Disillusion's great presentation at the Blender conference.
