HN uses it to illustrate how simply reordering scenes can transform a story.
Nerdwriter1 shows how rearranging the scenes of the film Passengers, so the audience shares the female lead's confusion, would change the movie. It draws on discussion of the original script.
“NerdWriter on youtube has a good video on how the change would look” (HN, 2021)
Yeah but it wouldn't have been tempered by growing attached to Pratt's character and we would get to experience the same feeling of confusion as JLaw's character. NerdWriter on youtube has a good video on how the change would look, does a better job of selling it than I ever could: [this video]
The movie could have been great if it was oriented around the female passenger waking up and not knowing what had already happened before instead of the audience knowing everything linearly [this video]
Passengers rearranged so the audience shares the character's confusion
It would be interesting to watch an edit played in chronological order. A similar response was made to Passengers[1], where if it is NOT made chronologically, the director could have an opportunity to push the theme entirely close to a horror genre. 1. [this video]
