Used mostly as evidence of FSD Beta's limitations, for example pulling out in front of fast traffic.
Chuck Cook films Tesla FSD Beta 8.2 attempting unprotected left turns across forward-facing traffic, using a drone for a third-person view. Eight tests are shown with the car's on-screen visualizations.

In the video I actually do see the yellow outline if I really turn up the resolution, it's super faint though, hard to tell if it is there the whole time. Easier to see in [this video] , at 4:00 the cars are all yellow when they shouldn't be.

This [0] is much worse than the video in the article, IMO. It repeatedly tries to pull out in front of cars going 45+ miles an hour, in some cases giving the driver very little time to stop it. For level 5 (what Elon keeps claiming they will have very soon), they need to be able to go tens of thousands of miles without a crash-avoiding human intervention, not 10 minutes. [0] [this video]
Watch this entire video: [this video] Tesla would kill you half the time making this unprotected left turn. Waymo can make unprotected left turns and have never killed or injured anyone or even bent metal in this situation. :P It's not a particularly challenging left turn. And the goal is to kill you less than .0001% of the time making left turns. Yes, Waymo tries to avoid them in route planning, but it still takes them if necessary.
Contrasts Tesla's unprotected left turn with Waymo.
It's a win. But-- if it's just driving freeway miles and lanekeeping and doing basic collision avoidance-- there's a lot of cars doing that and Tesla is in first place but not strongly differentiated from GM, etc. Other cars can provide you this "less fatiguing road trip" experience. If you want it to actually drive and be able to remove your attention, well, something like this [this video] makes the present limits rather clear.

What videos would those be, like this one? [this video] Tesla’s safety claims are wildly overstated, as documented here: [link] In aggregate, Tesla’s FSD is demonstrably not up to the task. “Limited driver assist” is a much more fair assessment of what their software is actually capable of than the “full self driving” branding.
Example of FSD's shortcomings against safety claims.
