HN holds it up as a showcase of what a stock Amiga 500 can do and as one of the best demos ever in technique and storytelling.
Eon is a demoscene production by The Black Lotus, released at Revision 2019 and designed for an Amiga with OCS chipset, 512 kB chip and 512 kB fast memory. This is the party version, which has some known glitches.
“I feel like this is one of the best demos of all time from both a technical point of view plus storytelling.” (HN, 2026)
This is awesome as hell, haven't seen that one yet. I love that cracktros/demos are still a thing. A cracktro a day keeps the slop away. If you like that one, you'd probably dig this. I feel like this is one of the best demos of all time from both a technical point of view plus storytelling. Dropped back in 2019. Warms my heart. The Black Lotus - Eon: [this video]

Vampire V4 SA (coming 2019/Q3) ------ There is a new Amiga being developed. It is an accelerator board with a brand new 68080 processor. The thing is, it being FPGA, it actually doesn't need to be hosted in an actual Amiga any more. Therefore they are planning to make a standalone, essentially new Amiga. The Amiga has a very impressive demoscene... Two Amiga demos that I like from The Black Lotus (TBL): - Eon (2019): [this video] (4:16 is my favorite part) - Starstruck (2006): [link]
Certainly! Here are some of my personal favorites from recent years. These all run on a stock A500 (with the ubiquitous trapdoor memory expansion). [this video] [link] [link] [link]
I use the same trick today! I have some "benchmark" macros set up which forcibly override the background color when I want to see where in the frame my operations are taking place. > Didn't know there were people still trying to squeeze more out of that chipset nowadays. You will be amazed. The demoscene has gotten insanely good since around 2017.
